Camera access

Open iOS Settings, find QR Clarity, and allow Camera. Return to the app and hold the code steady in good light.

A code is not detected

Clean the lens, move slightly farther away, remove glare, and keep the complete code inside the frame. You can also enter its content manually.

Product details are missing

Only compatible product numbers are looked up. Open Food Facts is community-maintained, so a valid product can still be absent or incomplete.

Restore Purchase

Use the Restore Purchase button with the same Apple Account that bought QR Clarity Plus. Apple manages the non-consumable entitlement.

Supported formats

QR, UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN-13, EAN-8, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, Codabar, ITF-14, Data Matrix, Aztec, and PDF417.

QR Clarity can classify common links, Wi-Fi details, contacts, email, phone numbers, messages, map locations, events, product numbers, and manually entered ingredient text.

History and QR Clarity Plus

The free version stores the latest 10 scans on your device. QR Clarity Plus is a one-time $0.99 non-consumable purchase that expands local history to 1,000 scans and unlocks batch mode and CSV export. It is not a subscription.

  1. Open Settings in QR Clarity.
  2. Select Unlock QR Clarity Plus or Restore Purchase.
  3. Confirm that the device uses the Apple Account tied to the purchase.

Product and ingredient guidance

Compatible GTINs are requested directly from Open Food Facts. Ingredient notes link to WHO and U.S. FDA references where available. The physical label remains the primary source for a product.

Include the following details so a scanning issue can be reproduced:

  • iPhone model and iOS version.
  • QR Clarity version and build number.
  • Barcode format, if known, without including sensitive encoded data.
  • What you expected and what happened instead.
