QR Clarity

Privacy at a glance

QR Clarity is designed without an account, advertising, or an app-owned cloud service. Scan history is stored on your device. The app does not use advertising or analytics SDKs and does not sell personal information.

Camera frames are used to detect supported codes in real time. QR Clarity does not save camera photos or video.

Information handled by the app

Scans and local history

When you choose to scan or manually enter content, QR Clarity can store the decoded content, barcode format, scan date and time, and any related product or ingredient analysis on your device. The free version keeps up to 10 records. QR Clarity Plus expands local capacity to 1,000 records.

This information is not linked to an account because QR Clarity does not create or require one.

Product lookup

For a compatible food product code, QR Clarity extracts the GTIN and sends that product number directly to Open Food Facts to request community-maintained product information. QR Clarity does not send your complete scan history or an app account identifier with that request. Standard network information, such as an IP address, may be processed by Open Food Facts as part of providing its service.

Actions you start

If you choose to open a decoded website, email, phone number, map location, or similar destination, iOS transfers that action to the appropriate app or service. Those destinations handle information under their own terms and privacy policies.

Purchases

Apple processes the QR Clarity Plus purchase and restoration. QR Clarity receives the entitlement state needed to unlock the feature, not your payment card details.

How information is used

  • Decode and classify supported QR and barcode content.
  • Display, search, compare, export, and delete local scan history.
  • Request product details for a compatible GTIN.
  • Provide ingredient context and clearly identified reference links.
  • Unlock and restore QR Clarity Plus after Apple confirms the purchase.

Retention and your choices

Records remain on your device until you delete an individual scan, clear all history in Settings, or remove the app. Export occurs only when you choose it, and the destination you select then controls the exported file.

Camera permission can be changed at any time in iOS Settings. Product lookup requires an internet connection; other local scan and history functions can continue without one.

Security and limitations

QR Clarity relies on iOS app storage and device protections. No method of electronic storage or network transmission is guaranteed to be completely secure. Avoid scanning or saving sensitive secrets that you would not want stored on your device.

Product and ingredient information can be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. QR Clarity is informational only and does not provide medical advice, legal compliance, or a guarantee of safety.

Children

QR Clarity is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children through an account or app-owned service.

Changes and questions

This policy may change when the app or its data practices change. The effective date above will be updated when a revised policy is published.
